Windows to the Soul

We just got the results of Alicia's eye exam...one of her eyes is completely mature now, and the other is nearly there with the retinopathy regressing well. This is basically what we were hoping to hear; Michelle is elated. This means Alicia's eyes should not be a factor in keeping her in the hospital longer. Prior to this exam the doctors had told us that it might be another two to four weeks before we got to this point. Thank you for your prayers!

Also, Alicia reached the five pound mark yesterday. And today, five pounds two ounces.

She hasn't managed to take another full feeding by mouth since the one on Sunday. But Michelle is now working with a lactation consultant who is very knowledgeable and very positive. She's given Michelle a much-needed boost of encouragement. Today they're going to try a breast shield to help make latching and sucking easier for Alicia.
