Safe at Home
Well, we made it through the 17 hours of flights, five hours of layovers and three hours of driving to get back home. We missed our kids a lot while we were in Australia, so it was wonderful to hug and kiss them again. They tried to act like they missed us too, which was nice.
We had a fantastic time in Brisbane, thanks entirely to our magnificent hosts, Alicia and Danny and Sophie. Thanks so much you guys! We saw kangaroos, emus, humpback whales, and even cuddled with a koala bear. He was half-stoned, of course, but it's apparently quite difficult to find one that isn't. Eucalyptus isn't exactly over-the-counter stuff, you know.
And if you're wondering, I made every attempt to go skydiving, but it didn't happen. It was scheduled thrice, but each time the weather didn't cooperate. The third day was looking perfect, the sky was clear blue, sunny and warm, and we had been given the green light. I got suited up, we piled into a plane with no door (me sitting right next to the open side, excited to watch the ground drop away from such a unique vantage point), started rolling down the runway, then the crew started getting some new info about the wind picking up and they called it off at the last second. Rather disappointing. Still, better than jumping and getting blown into some power lines or something.
All the pics of our trip are here, so take a look!
