Schools

Well, check off another box on the Moving To Canada hit list. Toby is registered for kindergarten in the elementary school one block away from my Dad's house. Alicia, she's signed up for pre-school six blocks away.

In our perfect world, we were hoping for Toby to make it into the French immersion program. We've been told he's number 30 on the waiting list, which is a long shot but not impossible to get in this year. The really good news is that he keeps his spot on the waiting list next year, and they will allow him to start French immersion in 1st grade (they'd call it Grade One up North). But for today, it was a thrill to get the news that he's in. It's just one more thing that seemed like it was a going to be a lot harder than it was. Selling the house, finding a good place to live short-term, pulling together the visa application for Michelle...well...actually, that last one was every bit as hard as I thought it would be, but now it's done and we can just wait for the answer. All that's left is whether I can find a job up there. Got any leads?
