Two Weeks

It's coming at us fast now. Our big moving-out day is two weeks from today. Two weeks to get everything in boxes, get rid of the stuff we aren't bringing with us, and handle all the other little details that need to be arranged. We're still in good shape, overall. Big things like cars, flights, drop-offs, pick-ups, leases, help loading, help unloading, are mostly figured out already. I won't go into it all now.

One of the things that happens as it gets closer, much like when a family approaches the arrival of a new baby, is that no one can talk to you about anything else. Every day at work I get asked when my last day at work is (June 18). Every friend who calls or stops by asks how the packing is going (we've got a decent start on it). What are you doing with your cars? Where are you going to live? I forget, did Josh get a job yet?

So forgive me for not going into it all again...it's become a daily exercise for us. It's coming fast, but being the proactive and organized family that we are, we feel like we're staying on top of it, if barely. The next major chore that I'm about to get to (maybe today) is compiling the actual list of (approximately) everything that will be in the truck and the (approximate) value in Canadian dollars of each item, which will be asked for at the border. That should be fun.

Dear readers, you may not see another update to this blog, or certainly not very many, for the next month or so. Thank you for your understanding, and be assured that we shall return eventually, with many exciting stories of our new homeland and how we got there. Stay tuned!
