So What the Heck Are We Doing?

Okay. Things are moving fast now, so as bloggers it may be tough for us to keep up with ourselves. But what exactly are we up to, you may be wondering? Well, just follow this simple step-by-step plan and you too can experience the excitement and fun of our lives as they stand at this moment.

1. Sell your house in one week. This is maybe not as surprising as it sounds, since we are lucky enough to be in a position to take a significant loss, but it's still quite a feat in the current market. Besides our low pricing, we probably owe some of our instant success to our stager, Julie. If you are trying to sell, our humble opinion is that it's worth paying somebody like her to come to your house and tell you how to make it look better. We can give you her number.

2. Once you've recovered from the fact that your house actually sold, find a new place to live. It's not that tough to find a good place to rent right now, since no one can sell their house (at least not without using a stager), but you are limited by the fact that you don't want to sign a one-year lease. We looked at four places in the last two days, and the fourth one was the one. It's awesome. We're excited. It looks like this.


3. Move. Specifically, on Saturday, October 18th. Be sure to put this date on your blog so that all your friends will come and help you. You might also think about making it into a Facebook Event that you can invite all your Facebook Friends to. And of course, you will be sure to be all packed and ready for them when they come, so all they will have to do is load boxes into cars and trucks and drive them to your new place...don't make them actually pack things or clean or anything not-fun like that. And feed them pizza.

4. Fill out several dozen forms so that you will be allowed to live in Canada sometime next year. Your wife needs to be sponsored for permanent residency, but before you can fill out that form, you need passports for yourself and your kids, and before you can apply for passports, they need to have Certificates of Canadian Citizenship, so you better get started because this chain of events will probably take months upon months to complete.

5. Explain to everybody at work that you are leaving, but not for nearly a year yet. This will create a nicely awkward situation where they might congratulate you and wish you all the best in the future, and probably start thinking about who will have to replace you when you leave and what knowledge you will have to impart before you go, but where they will still have to be around you and work with you for at least seven to nine more months and act like nothing is different.

6. Now is not the time to start thinking about this yet, but eventually you will need to start looking for a new job in Canada. This will create more enjoyable awkwardness as you ask people if they will be a reference for you, but also still work with you for another half a year or more. Once you have named a coworker as a reference, it is best not to then do anything to annoy them. The day after you piss them off will probably be the day they get a call from your potential future employer.
